Department of Health and Hospitals / Office of Public Health HIV/AIDS Program
Application Guidelines
| The Combined HIV Prevention Counseling and Rapid Testing Training covers the CDC recommended guidelines for HIV Prevention Counseling and the manufacturer’s instructions for collecting an oral specimen and running the OraQuick rapid HIV test. | |
| The online HIV/AIDS quiz MUST be taken before an applicant will be accepted into training. Applicants who arrive at a training without having taken this quiz will be asked to leave and reschedule for another training. It is not necessary to answer all questions correctly in order to successfully submit an application. | |
| Anyone interested in HIV counseling and testing may apply to attend, but priority for attendance is given to OPH employees and those organizations that the HIV/AIDS Program directly funds for HIV testing. | |
| Admission into this training does not guarantee funding, supplies, or testing site approval. There is a separate process for receiving funds and/or supplies through the Office of Public Health HIV/AIDS Program. | |
| Each training holds a maximum of 18 participants. | |
| Indicate which training you would like to attend by checking the box to the left of the desired training; only choose one training from the list. Please note that each training has a different application deadline. Confirmation or regret letters will be mailed to each applicant after the application deadline noted below. If a regret letter is received, the applicant may apply for a different training. | |
| This training is free. However, the Louisiana Office of Public Health does not provide for travel, lodging, or food accommodations. | |
|
Participants who arrive more than 30 minutes late will be asked to leave and apply to attend another training. Any additional questions please contact the Training Coordinator at (504) 568-7474. |
